FC6 comreset failed during boot

Hi,

i recently installed fedora core 6. everything seems to work fine except the pretty long boot times.

At the very beginning of the boot stage it stops for 30 secs, with the following errorcode:

ata2ort failed to respond (30 sec)
ata2: comreset failed (device not ready)

Does anyone know a solution for that ?

Im running FC6 x64 on a P5w dh deluxe with intel core 2 duo.

sorry if this topic was already posted, but i didn't find anything in the forums.

thanks !

Hello:
Just a thought

Are one or more of your drives connected to a software raid controller [disabled or not] ?
Or do you have a software raid controller that is enabled in your BIOS, but has no drives attached ?
[I would also check your BIOS settings for you controllers (if any) and disable anything that you are not going to use.]

If so, try adding to your kernel boot line nodmraid
your kernel boot line should look like this ..

...... rhgb quiet nodmraid

i have 2 Sata2 Harddisks connected to the ICH7 Raid Controller on my motherboard.
the main disk (System) is connected to sata1 controller. the 2nd one to sata3 controller, because there is no sata2 controller on the mb. as far as i've understood sata2 is used by ICH7 for some raid stuff.

adding the nodmraid to the bootline didn't change anything.

thanks for your reply
