I am trying to install Fedora Core 6 to a Dell PowerEdge 6800 Server. The server has 16GB of RAM and 3TB of hard drive space. I created a RAID 1 with two hard drive, a RAID 5 with 5 hard drive, and another RAID 5 with 3 hard drives. It also has 3x 3.16GHz Intel Xeon Processors.
Initially, I installed Fedora Core 6 32-bit version, but it was only using 4GB of RAM out of 16GB. I decided to re-install the OS with Fedora Core 6 64-bit version. The installation went smoothly until the initial user account setup. After I gave the user name and password, the screen went blank. It hung over 30 minutes without any changes. I rebooted the server into single user mode in attempt to check for any error messages in the log. There no unusual error messages. I tried to re-install it a few times, but they all hung after the initial user setup. What should I do at this point? Further troubleshoot it or install the 32-bit version and recompile the kernel to enable 64GB RAM? Please help.
