Canoscan Lide 80 drivers : Help Please.

Does anyone know of a link to Linux drivers for a Canoscan lide 80 unit ?

I am running Fedora Core 6 using Gnome.

The Sane page http://www.sane-project.org/sane-backends.html says it is unsupported but I am hoping someone might know of a work arounds etc.

My other Canoscan 25 is supported and works beautifully with FC6

Thanks in advance.

My first thread, and already I am begging for help...

Talking Re. Canoscan 80 drivers

When I had trouble finding a driver for my LiDE 25 on a Fedora 5 O/S , a Plustek driver got me operational - might be a clue to a solution for you. I think someone came into my box and helped me though. Does your Hardware Browser find anything? The codes I found were: vendor = 0x04a9 product 0x2220 chip LM9832/3 at: libusb: 002:002
The lads are probable working on your Canoscan 80 right now!

Aquafire,
I have the same scanner. Were you able to get your scanner working? What did you end up doing?

If it says its unsupported, then its unsupported. You should always check for support BEFORE you buy your hardware.

There is a problem when all the posts dead end at SANE. SANE has not been updated since 2003. There is current support from other sources. Avasys for those with epson scanners, including those shown as unsupported by SANE. I believe another is Vuescan. It also supports a number of scanners that SANE shows as unsupported. It is my hope that someone has found another source with support for the Canon Lide 80 scanner. I now own a Canon Lide 80, an Epson Perfection 1250 and a brand new Epson Perfection V200. My contribution to the Linux world will be directed at getting scanner support for as many scanners as possible. I can't write the programs, but I can research and post with information. Aquafire either got discouraged and went back to widows or he figured out a fix or compromise for the Canon Lide 80. Hope this helps.

It's not... all my Canon devices are plugging into a Vista box.
