Google: change default port postfix
let me find something better

http://groups.google.com/group/maili...39f9cdf766a69e

The directive in /etc/postfix/master.cf uses "smtp", which it pulls from /etc/services. If you replace it with a port number, say 2025...then it is numerically hardcoded.
But you want to make sure that whatever port you choose is availble. Open your firewall for it as well.

thanks
now i tried that port in telnet through localhost it worked
but then i tried it in telnet from outside my router
if you can see it is not working outside

Quote:
[root@licut da]# telnet localhost 2025
Trying 127.0.0.1...
Connected to localhost.localdomain (127.0.0.1).
Escape character is '^]'.
220 licut.is-a-geek.net ESMTP Postfix
exit
502 Error: command not implemented
bye
502 Error: command not implemented
quit
221 Bye
Connection closed by foreign host.
[root@licut da]# telnet www.licut.com 2025
Trying 24.117.3.30...
telnet: connect to address 24.117.3.30: Connection refused
telnet: Unable to connect to remote host: Connection refused
[root@licut da]#
i am positive that my router is not blocking this port
another thing is that i can get it to work through 80 but not 2025

thank you so far

Found this good explanation:

Sherman,

Thank you VERY much for this response. Sorry for the late reply. I've been
covered up.

This worked great! One minor addition to the procedure is to run this
command afterward:
cp /etc/services /var/spool/postfix/etc/services

Otherwise you'll get warnings in your logs.

Thanks again,
Shaman
