usb flash drive not recognized by knoppix 4.0

Hello...I need your help...I am a new user for knoppix 4.0, and my usb flash drive does not show in the desktop...can anybody tell me how to mount the flash drive so i can have permanently as a storage drive on my laptop, I am using a toshiba satellite a35-s159; I will really appreciate any help...thank you so much...
