compaq nx6110, broadcom bcm43xx, ndiswrapper, and ralink rt2571!

Help,

Ive got a hp compaq nx6110 laptop which has a bcm43xx wlan. Ive follwed the instructions ive found on many sites on how to setup ndiswrapper for this wlan card and laptop and it still wont work. There is no reason why this setup should not work as it is well documented on the web that it should work. ndiswrapper reports that the hardware is present and driver is loaded. Ive also tried using the ralink rt2571 usb dongle (with the bcm card disabled in the bios). When ive compiled the drivers for ralink, i don't get any errors and it reports the drivers have been installed correctly. whenever i try to do 'ifup rausb0' the error that comes back is that the device is not present, but lsusb reports that it is present. I am using kernel 2.6.19-1.2911.6.5.fc6 (i386) with the same source files and headers. Cheers.
