Question signal out of range message

Good morning,
Well it would be a wonderful morning but i am having an install problem. I installed core 5 as a duel boot on the machine that i am writing on now and it went without a hitch so i thought i would dedicate my other machine as a linux machine. i installed core 6 on it and it seemed to install with no problems but when i rebooted it all i get is a "signal out of range" message where i should be getting a logon screen. The mother board is a "pentium 4/pentium d processor" and the graphics for the motherboard is "intergrated s3 unichrome pro 2d/3d graphics", the monitor is a "norwood micro". this machine had "windows xp pro" on it until yesterday when i installed fedora over it and everything was working fine so i am pretty sure that i just need some driver help or some such thing. I am pretty new at linux so if you would please give fairly detailed instructions i would greatly appreciate the help.
Jim

i went to this site. i am new to linux but even if i wern't i believe that sixteen pages of info on how to build a driver would be kind of daunting. thanks for trying to help though. i think that i will try another flavor of linux. i have heard good things about mandriva, ubuntu, and simplymepis. thank you again for your time and effort.
