Ghost install?

I've changed my Epson printer to an R265, but I've got a problem trying to install the Avasys driver, as Software Installer reports a conflict with files from the previous driver ( for a C67). The C67 driver didn't have an un-install provided, so I removed the files manually, which may not have been a good idea. I've tried using ' rpm -e ... ' without the rpm suffix, as suggested by Firewing! in one thread I found, but no success. When I tried re-installing the C67 driver to try re-uninstalling it I get the contradictory messages shown on the screen-shot. As far as I can see all the C67 files have been removed, but trying to install both Software Installer and rpm -Uhv still report the conflict. Both Avasys drivers appear to be standard FC compatible .rpm's, so I'm hoping there is a known fix/workaround for my problem. Thanks in advance.

Is it possible for you to use the drivers that cups is already providing? Go to:
http://127.0.0.1:631 . And you also might need to install additional drivers:

yum install foomatic

I'm looking into using cups and/or gutenprint drivers, but from what I can see so far there isn't a driver specifically described as for the R265, though some people have got it working with the ' Stylus Photo ' driver. The Avasys driver is tailored for the R260/R265/R270 family,if I could only sort out this conflict problem. I suspect there is a left over entry somewhere which is telling the Software Installer and ' rpm ' command that the sc67 driver is installed, but blowed if I can find it!

You don't see any driver that is NEAR your printers type?

I have an HP PSC 2355p, I select the HP PSC 2350 driver. Simple...

If you really need to reinstall a rpm, use the force switch...

rpm -i --force package.rpm

Thanks alpha, the problem with the cups/gutenprint drivers was that as far as I can see - and I'm open to correction on this - they're written for the 4-ink Photo printers, and the R260/265/270 series are 6-ink ( + light cyan and magenta ) As it happens I pretty well parallelled your suggestion, except that as I was getting reported conflicts I used rpm -Uvh --replacefiles, to get the R265 driver to install, which seems to have worked. The proof will come when I try and physically install the printer in the morning!
