Thumbs down AiGLX vs FGLRX - I thought closed source was supposed to be faster

Hey all,

Just installed via the livna rpms the closed source driver and ran glxgears

The result was somewhat dissapointing.......

I run a radeon 9600se 128mb

I was getting about 1000fps with AIGLX but things were a little sluggish with Beryl running so I did some reading and found that most benchmarks indicated a 30%-50% speed increase..... Of course i wanted to try it out

So I followed the howto in the forums and glxgears

and was getting about 500 fps it edged it's way up to 800fps but still is this what I should expect?

Composite is disabled and my renderer says it is definently the 9600se

Guess I'll return to the AIGLX then at least I can use Beryl ahhhhhhh eyecandy sweet eyecandy
