Atheros Wireless Card Trouble

Ok. So i have a Toshiba Satelite laptop, and I installed Ubuntu, and couldn't get it the wireless card to work. It recognized that it was in the computer, but I had not wireless connection in the network thing. So I installed FC6 thinking that maybe it would work. Still no luck. I have madwifi installed, but I still can't get the wireless card to function properly. I need help badly. I'm not very experienced with Linux, but I've got the hang of the Terminal down, as long as the instructions are easy to read. Thanks

Step 1

I have only recently gone through this, and the procedure is not obvious.

Have you followed the procedures outlined on the madwifi Web site? The site is http://www.madwifi.org . Somewhere on the front page of the site is a link to a "newbie how to". That guide works for me, with 2 qualifications:

1. You need root priviliges to use some of the commands.

2. You may get a "command not found" for some of the commands, because they are in the /sbin directory, which may not be in your path. Try prefixing them with "/sbin/" if you get such a response.

Try these steps and post your results back to the forum.

Just type
yum install madwifi
after adding livna repository to your yum repositories. (Please refer to http://rpm.livna.org/rlowiki/UsingLivna )

The NetworkManager is a cool tool for connection handling.
