how to get link local address of ipv6 using socket programming in c

hi.

when i use ifconfig it gives me only link local address on eth0 interface and iam getting lo (loop back address) but i do not know how to get the global site address my pc is astand alone .what should i need to get the global site address and pl can anybody tell me how to get the link lical address using socket programing in c.
