Question I need to understand what I've done.

Greetings folks.
I'm a newbie, I've installed Fedora Core 6 and I think it's great. However, I have to have one machine that supports XP Pro (for a variety of reasons). I bought Partition Commander and have created a Linux Partition on my XP drive. What I can't seem to figure out is "How do I install FC6 on that partition?". I just can't seem to find my way to to getting it installed. I have FC6 installed on a 700Mhz Pentium and I love play with it. However I really want to put it on my 2.8Ghz to really have some fun and work on training my family over to wearing Fedora's. Help is appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

melm2

so what EXACTLY is the problem? Does anaconda "see" your partition? You should just be able to pop in the install disc and it should as if you want to install linux on such and such partition.

Ok, when the install disk shows me the linux partion I should be able to take a default and install onto that partion. I guess being so new to the dual boot scenario I'm not seeing what I think I should. Can I assume that if the install does not offer me anything related to windows then I won't be installing over my XP? (I know assuming is bad but trying to get this working I'm feeling pretty stupid right now.)

Hello:
If you read through a couple of the pages here :
http://fedora.redhat.com/docs/instal...titioning.html
you should have a better idea of what you should be seeing and the steps involved.

Thanks, got the info printed out. I'm sure it will help since it did include the pictures. I appreciate pictures when trying to learn things like this. I'll give it some more effort.

Backup everything important before doing any sort of partition editing if you're even slightly unfamiliar with whats going on. Better safe than totally boned.
