Trouble setting up full access public share

OOOoookay,
Having trouble setting up a full access public share in fedora 6. Here are the details: I’ve setup the smbpasswd with [nobody], smb.conf using…..

[data]
security = share
path = /shares/Data1
public = yes
read only = no
guest ok = yes
#writable = yes
create mask = 0777

the share file owner is [root root] and has full read, write, execute permissions. I am trying to access this share file through windows xp using the unc path \\servername. The file share shows up on my windows xp box and I can see the files within the FC6 server but can not edit files and save them. Also I can create a .txt file just fine but wanted to delete files but for some reason it shows that files are deleted on my windows xp box….but when I select refresh the file that I thought I deleted reappear. Guess I’m having several issues here….Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance, Ed

Problem solved!!

I found out that selinux was "enabled" and causing all kinds of permission problems, as soon as I desabled it in etc/sysconfig/selinux.conf......every problem I was having just when away. So to prevent any further drama for anyone else having issues with this........

"DISABLE SELINUX"!!!!
