My alsa subsystem is screwed up. What can I do?
Hello everybody.
I have a problem with alsa in my laptop with FC6. I can play sounds as usual, however I am unable to use "Shortcuts" to change the volume (you know, FN + Up or Down). First I thought the problem lied in the "Shortcuts" app or in the keys, but after experimenting a little bit I found alsa to be guilty. Besides when I shut down the PC I get an error message referring to alsactl. (alsactl...get control..., I don't remember very well because it passes very fast).
I made a little bit of researching and ended in the file modprobe.conf, I modified it but couldn't made it work. However I find it rather strange to me:
Quote:
alias eth0 8139too
alias snd-card-0 snd-hda-intel
options snd-card-0 index=0
options snd-hda-intel index=0
remove snd-hda-intel { /usr/sbin/alsactl store 0 >/dev/null 2>&1 || : ; }; /sbin/modprobe -r --ignore-remove snd-hda-intel
alias ath0 ath_pci
options ath_pci autocreate=sta
alias wifi0 ath_pci

Is there anything I must add to this file? Is there any other file I have to edit? Most of the posts I read while trying to solve this had the volume settings not saved; this is not my case, after rebooting the computer remembers the volume I set.
