Have you tried the livna repository? rpm.livna.org contains some prebuild kernel drivers for fedora core. It worked for me. Make sure to get driver version to match the kernel version. How did you enable the zoom efect? Are you using gnome or kde?

Sorry I'm not at my computer right now so I can't check but I am sure it is the livna drivers that I have installed

kmod-nvidia-96xx xorg-x11-drv-nvidia-96xx

I also think i have them set up okay as GoogleEarth is working fine.

I USED to enable desktop effects by just going to:
System->Preferences->Desktop Effects.

okay so i removed all the 96 xx stuff reinstalled from the livna repo and now all the desktop effects work except for that favourite zoom out one of mine.

Also if I have desktop effects enabled and open a window the top of the window is always off the top of the screen. I then have to maximise it and drag it down in size.

GoogleEarth doesn't work as well as it did before either.
