GeForce 6200 Go TC - New or Old Driver?

Hi Guys

Just wanted some advice, I installed the new Nvidia driver on my Vaio a few days ago but everytime I enter console it white screens on me

Since then I have reinstalled FC6 a few times as I was havin issues (turns out it was install the i586 kernel instead of the i686 kernel)

I am now wondering if the i586 kernel was causing me problems going into console with the new driver or should I play it safe and stick with the older one?

You need to read the "Installion Help" forum and there is a "sticky thread" on the i586 kernel and how to fix it. I have a nvidia 6200 and installed the "new" driver from Livna not the "96xx" one for older cards.

Yeh I have fixed the i586 issue already hence why I mentioned it above, however I have the new 97xx driver installed from Livna and am still getting the "white out" issue when I switch to console.

OK, I must have misunderstood. Are you saying that you have a graphical desktop Gnome,Kde,XFCE etc and when you open a "console" you get a "whiteout"?

Running Gnome with a consoles is fine, however when I want to use a console from GDM ie, "Ctrl+Alt+F1" my screen does a nice impression of white light lol.
