Exclamation Update Errors and Errors When Installing New Software

Greetings,

I'm brand new and although I am finally thrilled to have a functioning Linux version up and running I am recieving some really cyptic errors when I go to update my software (See Below):

I gotta be honest I know that this is going to take a while to get used to, but does anyone have any idea what this is telling me, better still can anyone explain it to me in plain english. I hope to be improving at the conversating with time and exposure, but I have had the system up and running for two days now so I wasn't really planning on getting something like this. The Software/Add Remove feature is also giving me an error, but lets see how I do on this first.

Thanks,

Fluxxate

I'm getting exactly the same error as fluxxuate. reduced and stopped services per suggested link(s), rebooted and problem persists. breaks on "digikam" with a typo
in "genre: optinoal". (sic) this doesn't look right. any ideas?

so my system is pretty quiet, and I only touch livna for my nvidia and X. there is a similar post to this that indicates it's
a recent failure, possibly something corrupt at the repo?

the post I was referring to is

http://forum.fedoraforum.org/forum/s...d.php?t=145659

and we are all seeing the same thing. It's been a while since I've read python, but it looks like it breaks
while parsing the package list, which lead me to the typo I saw in the frame variables.

Hello:

You could be right I am not sure, however, you have one service running that you need to disable.
Quote:
yum-updatesd 0:off 1:off 2:off 3:on 4:on 5:on 6:off
Open a terminal and log in as root using
su -
your password
then type
chkconfig yum-updatesd off

You also have incompatible repos enabled at the same time
livna + [freshrpms + dries] = problems
livna + either fresh or dries = problems
livna on it's own is fine
[freshrpms + dries] together is fine
http://stanton-finley.net/fedora_cor...s.html#Warning
My suggestion is to disable both freshrpms and dries and leave livna enabled [however, it's up to you]
to do so
gedit /etc/yum.repos.d/freshrpms.repo
and set
enabled=1
to
enabled=0
[same for dries]
or do the same for livna if you want to use freshrpms and dries
You can always install a package from the disabled repo by using
yum --enablerepo=disabledrepo isntall packagename

then
type
yum clean all
and then you can run
yum -y update
or use whatever you were using before to update your system
and you should be good to go

Hi Seve,

I disabled fresh and dries--thanks for reminding me of smfinley's site--and still breaks. guess I'll wait and see what bugzilla comes back with...

Thanks!
