Battery status unreported

I have a laptop (Acer TravelMate 4020 series) running FC6. acpitool reports correct battery information, and even time left until the battery is dead/recharged. However, all the battery meters in gnome can only detect if i'm charging or discharging. Is there any way to make these meters follow acpitool?
