mime.cache file shows as TrueType font file

Some how instead of a "plain text document" my /usr/share/mime/mime.cache file is " TrueType font data."
Also the /usr/share/mime/magic file shows as a "smil document."
When in nautilus I get the option to "open with" Gnome font viewer for the mime.cache file. And "open with" Real Player 10 with the magic file.
Obviously something is screwed up. Could I just back up these files put them in the Trash and log out or reboot and then they would be reset to default. Or is there something else I need to do.
Thanks
