What Video Cards are compatible with FC6?

Can anyone please tell me what Video Cards are supported by FC6? I'm using nVidia GeForce 6800. when i booted CD1, it showed my the options if i want to install FC6 using Anaconda or command line or exit. I chose to install it with Anaconda. it loaded for a few seconds then it showed a corrupted image on the screen! - like a mesh of blue and green and violet.

i had this experience with installing openSuSE 10.2. but at least i was able to get through the installation until the end and log-in. i just had to configure my Video Card with openSuSE 10.2 by installing drivers from nvidia.com for Linux. which i'm also having difficulty as of the present.

but with FC6, i haven't even started installing yet, my screen is already corrupted and i can't go on.

I just think nVidia doesn't support Linux that well, so I might as well replace my VC. So can anyone please tell me what VCs are compatible with Linux?

I'm a little surprised at your experience, since the installer usually handles the nvidia's adequately.

I use a total of 6 Linux systems regularly and 3 are ATI, three are NVidia. It *seems* (subjective judgement here) that the very recent revs of ati driver are pretty decent and performs quite decently. The open source "nv" driver is functional, but a slow and not very feature-ful - quite basic. The free "nvidia" driver from Nvidia (the nv website or from livna) are solid and give quite good performance.

I've had no problems with a Nvidia 7900GT at work. Also the two ATI Radeon 9600 based boards work well. I love my recently purchased Nvidia 7600GT (GeForce, fanless=silent), but I haven't gotten the compiz desktop effects working with this one yet ("nvidia" driver, probably an xorg.conf config issue).

The only system where I had any install weirdless is an old and cheap ATI radeon 9200 based board. It shifted the install X screen off to the far left.

I had a similar problem installing FC6 with my GeForce 6800XT, I got the same mesh of blue green and violet before it even started installing. However, I got around it by installing FC6 in text mode and booting to text mode when the install was finished. Then used yum to install the nvidia drivers and booted it up in graphical mode. No problems with the card now and even have AIGLX working with it as well. Different story for my GeForce 5200 though, FC6 installed without any problems. Might be worth trying to install in text mode then installing the nvidia drivers before replacing the video card.
