Question OpenOffice Writer incomplete?

Hello everybody i'm confused with the OpenOffice Writer. I use it on WinXP and now i start to using it on FC6. I use only the version that is delivered over yum (2.0.4-5.5.10)

I want to use the replace, that normaly is located at Tools - AutoCorrect - Replace tab.
But i don't have that tab and so i can't configure it. The only tabs at Tools - AutoCorret are
Exeptions, Options, Custom Quotes and Word Completion.

I tried to de-/ reinstall the hole openoffice with yum - but still no effect.

I'm a brand new Linux user and so i have no clue were to look at. I have not found any information about this so far. I suspect that the installation must be incomplete and think about to reinstall the hole FC6 - but only as the last action to do.

Does anybody have a clue how i get the replace tab?

Not there on my version, and rpm packages are signed so it's not like it could have a bit missing. Check the windows version you have - maybe it's been moved elsewhere.

If I remember right now, that is missing on Fedora version for some reason but if you download and install rpm from OpenOffice.org directly it will be there.

pete is correct, go to www.openoffice.org and download the rpm. The installation instructions are clear, simple and straigthforward. Seems that Fedora compiles oowriter without support for AutoReplace (rather strange to omit such an essential function in a word processor...).

Do not auto-update openoffice via yum or pirut after that, as it will install the "wrong" version without AutoReplace support. If you have any questions left, feel free to ask.

Paul.

thanks for the answers so far - i suspected something like this, because openoffice nor firefox are in the most recent version available and there are some thread about the two, how to get them to work.

So i install the rpm manually
