Post What does the song Lighting Crashes by Live?

I heard this song on the radio a little bit ago and I just don't know what it means.

I went out on a venture around the interweb to see if I couldn't find out what it means. I found a lot of opinions but none of them seemed well thought out. So I decided that I would ask the fedora community. What more capable a force of deciphering the esoteric meaning of a rock song is there?

Quote:
lightning crashes, a new mother cries
her placenta falls to the floor
the angel opens her eyes
the confusion sets in
before the doctor can even close the door

lightning crashes, an old mother dies
her intentions fall to the floor
the angel closes her eyes
the confusion that was hers
belongs now, to the baby down the hall

oh now feel it comin' back again
like a rollin' thunder chasing the wind
forces pullin' from the center of the earth again
i can feel it.

lightning crashes, a new mother cries
this moment she's been waiting for
the angel opens her eyes
pale blue colored iris, presents the circle
and puts the glory out to hide, hide
If you have never heard this song find and listen to it. It's awesome.

I think this song is by Live not Pearl Jam. I was wondering why I had never heard of it even though I have all of their cd's, so I googled it. Pearl Jam may have covered it during a live show though.

It was on their "Throwing Copper" album, and I can't remember her name anymore(it's been over 10 years), but the song was written for a female friend of the band who passed away. She was an organ donor and the song was supposed to be about the lives she saved in spite of the pain her family went through.

thanks,
json
