Minimizing aplications to panel in Kde

I altered a setting while exploring the options on my new installation and now when I minimize an application there is no representation of it on the panel/taskbar. They're still running though, and I can't reopen the window nor do I know where to look to close the application. Could Someone be so kind as to help me find the control for this behavior.

I haven't used KDE for ages so I may be wrong. If you right-click on the panel thingie is there an option to add things to it? Maybe a minimised window viewer?
