display reverts back to 800x600 after reboot

Hi,

I am having an issue with my display settiings that i wonder if any of you have seen before...
here goes

i have a geforce 6600 nvidia card
i have loaded the nvidia drivers dor it (i think properly, i get the splash screen)
when i set the video to anything other than 800x600 using the nvidia control panel it sets the monitor properly
and i can view it and work there fine.
now the problem, when i reboot it always goes back to 800x600 instead of staying where i set it in the control
panel

any help on this one would be appreciated

Hello:
Check your /var/log/Xorg.0.log file
and see which modes are being validated?
You can add some modes to your /etc/X11/xorg.conf file to correct this if you like.
