Angry Terminal Problem

I've FC6, in Gnome while using terminal it only access to parent directory e.g when i'm in /etc when i type ls it shows all the directories or files when i try to access any file or directory, its simply says theres no such directory or file .

this only happens in Gnome, in KDE there is no such problem and all goes well.

So, you run pwd and it shows you are in /etc, but you can't cd anywhere?
Code:
cd /etc/sysconfig
doesn't work?

Try going to Edit --> Current Profile and going to the "Title and Command" tab, and make sure "Run command as a log-in shell"

Sometimes that fixes problems with commands running in terminal windows.
