Will not boot from 2nd hard drive

Hello,
I have recently tried to install FC6 on a sata drive. I have windows xp on hd0 and i use settup to install the first time through on freespace of drive 2 (SATA). It would not boot without error 15. So i went through all of these boot problem posts and tried all that you had to say in the posts to no avail.
Then I tried a fresh install and over wrote the whole SATA drive and now when it boots it goes to the windows boot manager and not grub. So once again I used linux rescue and tried to use grub all to no avail. I used the procedures list in earlier posts of installing grub to the MBR and that did not work.

I have 2 questions here
1. isn't there any documentation on this system on how to install on a second disk and how to use grub and all of the other commands since this operating system can't seem to find the installed core.
2. is there anyone who can help with this problem since i was not able to find any answers that were close to working in the forum?

thanks in advance
Desparately trying to get rid of windows and boot fedora,
Dave

Also I was wondering if anyone can tell me why the installer of ubuntu can handle this install and recognize the SATA but fedora can't install on a second hard drive. I am sure there are many people out there with a hardware configuration the same as mine (at least i guess there is) and i would suspect by now fedora and GRUB would be able to handle this automatically.

My configuration is ASUS M2N32 SLI deluxe with 2 gig ram
dual core AMD 4200+
REALTEK rtl8187 wireless modem
geforce 6600 video card
40 gig hard drive ide with windows XP installed
200 gig SATA hard (trying to install fedora core 6 on)
TIA,
Dave

Here is some more info for you
/sbin/fdisk-l reports

Device Boot ....... File System
/dev/hda1 * hpfs/ntfs
/dev/sda1 * Linux
/dev/sda2 Linux LVM

Right now after editing /boot/grub/menu.lst it is

default=0
timeout=5
splashimage=(sd0,0)/grub/splash.xpm.gz
hiddenmenu
title FedoraCore (2.6.18-1.2798.fc6)
root (sd0,0)
kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.18-1.2798.fc6 ro root=/dev/VolGroup00/logVol00 rhqb$0rhqb quiet
initrd/initrd-2.6.18.1.2798.fc6.img
title other
rootnoverify (hd0,0)
chainloader +1

going into grub at grub prompt
typing

grub>setup (hd0) same error

typing

I have 2 SATA dives one FC6 and one WinXP.
Code:
# fdisk -l

Disk /dev/sda: 203.9 GB, 203928109056 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 24792 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes

   Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/sda1   *           1          13      104391   83  Linux
/dev/sda2              14       24792   199037317+  8e  Linux LVM

Disk /dev/sdb: 200.0 GB, 200049647616 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 24321 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes

   Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/sdb1               1         784     6297448+  12  Compaq diagnostics
/dev/sdb2   *         785       24321   189060952+   7  HPFS/NTFS
I set the bios to boot from the drive FC6 is installed on and just change the boot order if I need to go into the other OS.

changing the bios did not work
it returns a small red line that says

bad PBR
but thanks for the try
guess no one else knows about this problem
still wondering why ubuntu, novell, and sun can find this diskand load onto it but fedora can not
hmmmm strange
guess the programmers need to fix the installer to bring it more to date

thanks for any help
dave

Unplug the Windows drive and try reinstalling FC6 on the only drive that will be now connected and see if it
installs properly and boots up.You can always sort out the boot sequence later. Another possibility is to try to use the Linux rescue disc.
