Install Fedora Core 6 > BIOS (Beginner)

I bought a magazine with Fedora Core 6 Cd´s and guide.
When I install it goes a little bit wrong. After it says testing servers or similiar it just stops, sometimes even earlier, the installwindow never coming up. I read that probably need BIOS but they didnt wrote more about that. So I wonder if someone knows about BIOS, wich and where I can get those.

Thanks

You have a couple of bios already . The motherboard has a bios, the graphics card has a bios, and if you have a raid controller that will probably have a bios. Is that enough bios for you.

lol, too funny Leigh, but be nice and explain it. It is obviously a translation thing. KUPSAN, the BIOS is the basic bit of programming on your motherboard that directs the computer where to go when you power it on. It really has nothing to do with the OS. I think what you are reading is them saying if the CD wont boot you need to change the BIOS to boot from CD first and not the hard drive. This isnt your problem, your CD starts to boot correct? You get the iso linux then media check then hardware detection then it freezes? We need more info such as what kind of graphics card you have, what processor...But try this: When you get the install prompt, where it says press enter to install, instead type "linux vesa" then hit enter. See if this gets you past this lockup.

sorry I couldn't resist it. KUPSAN made it sound like bios was something you would buy from Circle K

On a more serious note , check to see what motherboard you have i.e make & model then download a manual for the motherboard, this will give you more info on bios setup.
