FC6: notebook: getting internal 56k modem working

I cannot find any evidence that FC6 has detected my builtin 56k modem so how do you get one of these modems (most certainly a softmodem) working? I couldn't find any wizard under network or any modem detection app. For mobile use a modem is still important.

Ok, I just found a linmodem webpage that has a scanmodem tool. We'll have to check this out.

Not on a notebook, but when I setup my winmodem it crashed my box. Recovery was simple with a rescue boot and uninstall of the driver.

Just thought I'd prepare you for the possibility.

I think mine was a linuxant/connexant driver for the winmodem(?) and support was very limited. I believe they have greater support now, but "for fee".
