system shutdown

hi everyone.
here is the deferent qustion about system shutting down

in the system Desktop->logout-> shutdown
like an option is there.
from where this command will work.
can u tell me that path...
and actually my idea is i have shutdown my system by programatically..
if i run that exe my system will be shutdown automatically.

i hope you can understand my problem..
can you please show me the way..

make one script containing the line:

/sbin/shutdown now

and how can i handle this in my program

You must create the script first. Open gedit and type 2 lines:

#!/bin/sh
sbin/shutdown now

save this file any name.Example: bye.sh

give to this files execution permisions. You can do it in and graphic environment using rigth click and selecting properties or in shell using the command:

chmod a+x bye.sh

For invoking this scripts in your program, the programing language you are using must to have a runtime interface that allow to run the script. Consult your documentation for details.

hi every one
i found the exe of shutdown
/sbin/shutdown
wr can i find the remaing exe
that is
logout and restart the computer

i hope you can help me in this.

please show me the way
