installation of FC6 stalls

I've this funny problem installing fc6 on a older notebook. Let me give the specs of it first:
Toshiba portege 7220ce,
650Mhz pIII mobile,
320Mb in 64Mb and 256Mb strips,
Network is working fine,
working with FC5 (no problems setting that up).
When i run the setup of fc6 it stalls at a fixed piont, it's staying fixed at the point it 's testing dependencies. Oke this is what I've done to get it going;
tried the "linux expert" setup stalls
tried the "linux noprobe"setup stalls
tried the "upgrade old(er) linux" setup stalls
Got a respin stalls
Changed from cd to dvd stalls
Don't know what to do now

Does it stall at a certain point?

You have tried repins from Fedora Unity?

You did both CD and DVD installs?

If you can use a network card you might try a network install, if your DVD drive can't read a certain part of the disc it is not going to work.

Yes. The moment it is checking the dependencies of the selected pakages it stalls. The bar, normally showing the progress, is not growing, even after waiting for two days.

Tried that yesterday, gess, yep stall
Somehowe the change from pirut (selecting packages) to yum (checking) is goning bad.

I just started an upgrade of FC5 -> FC6 and it appears to have stalled at "Preparing transaction from installation source....". It took it about an hour to check dependencies and has now been on this step for the last 10 hours.

I thought to check whether it has perhaps run out of memory, so I ran 'cat /proc/meminfo' on a VT and it shows LowTotal: 385244 kB, LowFree: 5008 kB, SwapTotal: 313184 kB, SwapFree: 313184 kB. I'm not entirely sure what I'm looking at....

Is it reasonable for it to take this long? I don't think it is. I love Fedora, but this is not a good thing at all. That someone else has it sitting at this point for two days is not a good sign either.

When I did the first yum update after installing FC5, I had to break it down so it didn't try to update everything at the same time in order for it to go. (e.g. 'yum update a* b* c* d*'). One would think Anaconda could do better than that!

EDIT: I happened upon this thread through a search and didn't notice that it is in the Laptop forum. Probably better placed in the Installation Help forum....
