Broadcom 4318 on FC6 x64_86

Before anybody asks, I will say that I have read through the posts here and elsewhere on how to get it to work on my Compaq Presario 2565us laptop with AMD Turion-64. I even tried what http://forums.fedoraforum.org/forum/...d.php?t=134542 suggested for FC5, but to no avail. Apparently there is a eth1 in my network settings and it recognizes my hardware (as Broadcom Corporation BCM4318 [AirForce One]...etc), but I cannot connect to my wireless lan (SSID: yanhome and 64 bit ASCII WEP: LOUIS).

Using the cable to connect is fine, but the broadcom card just doesn't work. This is very frustrating. How can I connect?

Thanks a lot!

I have the same problem in my powerbook G4. With FC5, the wireless was working fine thankn to the help that you put.

I think something is broken in FC6 and may be this problem will be fixed in the near future.

You can check if your card can receive the signal with this 2 command.

ifconfig eth1 up
iwlist eth1 scanning

You will see the information from the wireless lan router.
We must to wait a while i think.

had the same problem, found a solution on mine...

ok, heres what i'm working with

fc6 x86_64
linksys WRT54G with DD-WRT Firmware version .23 SP2 Micro

problem, can detect AP, can't connect, even if statically configured

solution,

in my network utility, i found that my broadcom was set to master mode by default, switched it to managed mode, and no problem.

this all assumes that you have cut your firmware of course, haven't tried using encryption yet... will get around to it later and will let ya know

ah, your lookin at this all wrong... i'll give you a link to the correct file... DD-WRT is firmware for my router, not the wireless card...

this is for the wireless card
ftp://ftp.support.acer-euro.com/note...bit/80211g.zip
ok, now just extract the zip file,
make sure you install bcm43xx-fwcutter from yum
go to the directory you extracted the files and run this command
Code:
bcm43xx-fwcutter BCMWL564.sys
cp *.fw /lib/firmware
reboot
oh yes, this driver is only for the 64-bit version, you'll need to download the 32-bit version of the driver if your using the 32 bit version of fedora, also, i make no claims to as wether this will work on non-x86 mac architecture. *it prolly won't*

here is the 32-bit version of the driver --

ftp://ftp.support.acer-euro.com/note...iver/802bg.zip
