Quake 3 check sum error on Fedora Core 6!?

I'm trying to get Quake 3 working.

On Fedora Core 4 it was working.

But now in Fedora Core 6, when I try to run the linuxq3apoint-1.32b.x86(2).run installer, it keep saying:

Error in checksums: 2091365465 is different from 2693581780

I have tried the suggestion of editing this file and replacing all instances of tail +266 with tail -n +266 using Gvim's find and replace feature. No luck, the stupid thing keep repeating, error in check sum, error in check sum, ERROR IN CHECK SUM!?

Any other suggestions?

And what happened to backward compatibility?

Nevermind, I fixed it from someone's help.

Just run this command before running the installer:

[yourusername@yourcomputer ~]$ export _POSIX2_VERSION=199209
