Unhappy Cant upload DOC files

I am using fedora core 5.
I have my apache running perfectly. But when I put any *.doc file in my html document root, no one can access it. But they can access PDF files from the same directory , with same permissions set on both files.

Also I am not able to upload .doc files as mail attachments in gmail/yahoo mail using Opera/Firefox/Konqueror. I can attach all other types of files though.

So basically, its like .doc files are not going out of my box to anyone in any manner....I have disabled SElinux at boot itself. I am at my wits end...dunno what to do..please help.
