Can't insert DNS numbers

I have Fedora Core 6
I can't access the internet if I don't enter the DNS numbers, but the problem is that everytime they are erased and I don't know why.
The things I do are: I enter as root, I put the DNS numbers at network (from menu), save, then I deactivate and activate the network, quiting and then they are erased.
I tried a lot of things, like not deactivating, and a lot of other things and nothing worked.
How can I put these numbers and keep them there?

Before hardlocking the config file let's try this:

Open as root the /etc/modprobe.conf file (e.g. with "nano /etc/modprobe.conf") and add

alias net-pf-10 off
alias ipv6 off

to it at the "alias" section and save. Check if you get a network connection. If not, open firefox and type in the browserbar

about:config

in the filterbar type

ipv6

and set "disable ipv6" from "false" to "true" by double-clicking "false". Now check again. If that doesn't help, you can hack the /sbin/dhclient-script (if you know your way around there), or you can brutally hard-lock the relevant config file.

Open /etc/resolv.conf as root, enter the DNS entries you want to use and save. Then type

chattr +i /etc/resolv.conf

For unlocking, use chattr -i /etc/resolv.conf. +i = file will be immutable.

Good luck
