Videocard: Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000 2Gb VRAM + discrete Nvidia GeForce GT 640M LE 1Gb VRAM
Audio: Realtek ALC275 High Definition Audio
Network: Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller RTL8167: works well!
Wifi: Intel(R) Centrino(R) Advanced-N 6235 802.11 a/b/g/n: works fine after installing the iwlwifi-6000g2b-6.ucode driver
Bluetooth: v4.0: works fine after installing blueman
Webcam: ArcSoft WebCam Companion 1.3-MP HD: works fine.
Touchpad: very nice touchpad!
Hotkey (Home, Eject, Suspend ...): works if you tweak ACPI events yourself!

Re: Laptops running Fedora report

Model: Gateway lt3103u
Videocard: AMD/ATI X1200 RS690M
Audio: ATI Azalia Device
Network: Realtek RTL8101E
Wifi: Atheros AR9285 PCI-E (totally supported automagically)
Bluetooth: has the button to enable/disable but no built-in adapter or support.
Webcam: It has one, but I don't have/use any applications for it.
Touchpad: multi gesture touchpad works well
Hotkey (Home, Eject, Suspend ...): all of these work well, unless the underlying system is not present (ie. bluetooth)
Display: 10.1" 1366x768
OS: LXDE Fedora 17 Spin
Kernel: 3.4.4-5.fc17.x86_64
Suspend on Disk: works, but isn't as necessary since my laptop runs very cool with F17
Suspend on RAM: not enough ram for this
Comments: I like the form factor of netbook computers and will never get a full laptop again because I don't have a use for a mobile powerhouse, but I will never buy another ATI product again. X1200 cards are supported by the open graphics driver, but X dumps the screen about once every few hours which either requires a full X restart or computer restart. Disabling KMS isn't valid because drm doesn't report an error with KMS and I don't want to work at 1024x768. I have recently tried disabling EXAPixmaps and installing some R6XX driver-specific libraries (from the Archlinux wiki article), and am in an extended test phase right now.

Wifi: Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 3945ABG [Golan] Network Connection

Touchpad: Synaptics
Hotkey (Home, Eject, Suspend ...): Multimedia keys
Display: 1920x1200 (16:10) 17" WUXGA
OS: Fedora 17 x86
Kernel: 3.5.6-1.fc17.i686
Suspend on Disk: Never tried.
Suspend on RAM: Never tried.
Comments: Works well.
It's an old laptop, but I refuse to upgrade until it breaks and/or I can afford one that has the same resolution or better.
Pulseaudio was problematic, as this laptop has an LFE, which pulseaudio is incapable of setting correctly (defaults to 100% and can cause physical damage to speakers and ears.) The solution is simply using alsa with dmix.
Works beautifully with Fedora. Thanks!

Re: Laptops running Fedora report

Model: Toshiba Tecra R950-11H
Videocard: ATI Radeon 7550M
Network: Intel Corporation 82579LM Gigabit Network Connection
Wifi: Intel Corporation Centrino Advanced-N 6235
Bluetooth: Intel/Toshiba (Ok).

OS: Fedora 17 x86_64
Kernel: 3.6.7-4.fc17.x86_64
Suspend on Disk: Yes
Suspend on RAM: Yes
Comments: Installation and DVD recue mode needs to erase options "rhgb" and "quiet" (I also added "verbose"), otherwise the LCD screen gets a weird white screen and hangs. The only thing not working is the Fingerprint scanner (AuthenTec, Inc. 0x168b usb device).

Suspend on Disk: Not checked
Suspend on RAM: Works
Comments:
Fedora 18 only install, no windows installed except in Virtual box.

Fingerprint reader UPEK Eikon 2 works

Color Calibration Device works, but I can't mange to keep screen on when lid closed to preform real calibration, had to resolve it by performing with halve closed lid in the dark

Works out of the box,, especially with Intel Video Card active, Needs RPMFusion for NVidia binary drivers. Optimus not tested; Edit Installed Bumblebee and optimus works like a charm.

External monitors only work in NVidia mode, but then they work great.

Loved my Lenovo T61p, but this one is my favorite till now, beautiful machine!

Network: Realtek Semiconductor
Wifi: Broadcom 802.11
Bluetooth: yup, but turned off because I haven't found a use for it

Kernel: Linux 3.7.4-204.fc18.x86_64 x86_64
Suspend on Disk: Seems to work fine
Suspend on RAM: Also seems to work fine
Comments: A few people have mentioned issues with the volume and brightness controls on their machines, but I don't seem to have these issues. This laptop might be a cheapie, but it does a pretty damn good job of working with whatever distro I throw at it

Model: Panasonic Toughbook CF-29
GPU: Intel Mobile 915GM/GMS/910GML Express Graphics Controller
Ethernet: Marvell Technology Group Ltd. 88E8053 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller
Wi-Fi: Intel PRO/Wireless 2915ABG [Calexico2] Network Connection
Modem: Intel 82801FB/FBM/FR/FW/FRW (ICH6 Family) AC'97 Modem Controller
Display: 1024x768, touchscreen
Touchpad & touchscreen: Can't get info right now, will update post later. Something by Matsu****a, I think.

OS: Fedora 18, kernel 3.7.8-202.fc18.i686
Hibernate: Works fine (I use it all the time, in fact)
Suspend (to RAM): The display doesn't wake up.

Comments:
Fails to reboot (everything shuts down properly, but it doesn't begin to boot again). Problems configuring the touchscreen. Sometimes does not detect SD card being put in.
Other than that, everything works straight out of the box (maybe apart from Fn-F keys, but I never use them).

Kernel: 3.8.3-203.fc18.x86_64
Suspend on Disk: not used
Suspend on RAM: Fails to resume, resulting in infinite "on/off" loop
Comments: Screen Brightness control has no affect when using Discrete Graphics Card (kmod-nvidia)
  • multimedia buttons (play/pause, stop, skip-forward, skip-backward) have limited functionality; where only play/pause works, and "stop" pauses the video
  • middle track-pad button does not work with scrolling; additional configuration needed (thinkwiki.org)
  • turning off bluetooth doesn't persist after shutdown/reboot as in other distros
