Comments: This is a great netbook for older and recent Linux distros. I have fully tested five different distros and four different desktop environments, and all have worked quite well! This netbook may be a bit slow compared to recent additions to the market, but it is a reliable, solidly built device.

Fedora runs fine on this lappy, but the sound on/off button does not turn red when sound is off and Fedora does not know the accu capacity.

Memory: 1GB
Hard Disk: 250GB
Network: Atheros AR8152 Fast Ethernet
Wifi: Atheros AR9285 802.11b/g/n
Bluetooth: Not checked
Webcam: Acer Crystal Eye webcam
Touchpad: Synaptic?
Display: 1024x600
OS: Fedora 14 x86_64
Kernel: 2.6.35.9-64.fc14.x86_64
Suspend on Disk: Not checked
Suspend on RAM: Works
Comments:
Came with Windows 7 Starter which I never ran. Except for the recovery partition (I tested it before nuking Win7 to make sure I can get warranty repairs), Fedora 14 takes the whole disk.

Graphics ran out of the box using open source Intel driver, auto-detected 1024x600. Network, wireless, and webcam also worked out of the box.

Very similar functionality and speed as my 5-year old laptop (this one also runs Fedora 14 64-bit), except for the size, and no firewire (I still use this.)

Very very satisfied.

Re: Laptops running Fedora report

Model: Toshiba Satellite R630
Videocard: Intel Integrated
Memory: 4GB
Hard Disk: 500GB
Network: Intel 82577LC Gigabit
Wifi: Broadcom BCM4313 802.11b/g, initially did not work, but it is possible to get it working.
Bluetooth: Yes, Turn off and on, then it works.
Webcam: Integrated, caused Fedora to freeze once even after bios upgrade.
Touchpad: Touchpad, works great.
Display: 1366x768, works great.
OS: Fedora 14 i686
Kernel: 2.6.35.10-74.fc14.i686.PAE #1 SMP
Suspend on Disk: Works perfect, but complains about some devices.
Suspend on RAM: Works, but after resume the lcd brightness is locked to the brightest and can not be changed.

Comments:
First times I started up fedora it was unusable due to random freezes. However this issue was solved by upgrading the bios in windows.
The processor is unable to use the lowest frequency mode and never goes below 1,2 ghz, which greatly reduces battery-time.

Re: Laptops running Fedora report

Model: Acer Aspire 5538G - 514G50Mn
Videocard: Ati Mobility Radeon HD 4330
Network: Realtek, I'm not sure about the model, but it works
Wifi: Broadcom BCM43225; works after installing the Broadcom-wl module from RPM Fusion
Bluetooth: Yes, works like a charm
Webcam: Works perfectly
Touchpad: Works, although the multi-touch feature is not available.
Hotkey (Home, Eject, Suspend ...): Every single key works
Display: Yes, nothing to complain about.
OS: Fedora 14 64 bit
Kernel: 2.6.35.10-74.fc14.x86_64
Suspend on Disk: Yes
Suspend on RAM: Yes

Comments: Everything basically works. I wasn't able to use the touchpad's multi-touch feature and you have to install the Broadcom-wl module available at the RPM Fusion repo in order to use wifi. Adjusting the screen's brightness, the volume, multimedia control keys, everything works out the box! The battery's autonomy is also pretty good: 3 and half hours to more than 4 hours, similar to Windows 7. It's a great computer to install Linux on, Fedora especially

Re: Laptops running Fedora report

Model: Compaq Presario V2000 (V2305CA)
CPU: AMD Mobile Sempron 3000+
Videocard: ATI Radeon Xpress 200M
RAM: 1.1gig
Hard Drive: 60gig IDE
Network: RTL-8139
Wifi: BCM-4318
Bluetooth: N/A
Webcam: N/A
Touchpad: Works, but no gestures
Hotkey (Home, Eject, Suspend ...): All "Fn" buttons work. Fn + Suspend must be brought back up using power button though (space bar doesn't work). Laptop lip open/close button works no problem.
Display: 1280 x 768 (native)
OS: Fedora 14 32-bit
Kernel: 2.6.35.10-74.fc14.i686
Suspend on Disk: Yup
Suspend on RAM: Yup
Comments: Everything worked 'on install' - FIRST time wireless worked on install!!! I am still not sure about the GFX drivers though. Desktop effects work smooth, glxgears shows ~60fps but web browsing (FF 3.6.13, Opera 11) can be horrible rendering pages and video. Tried newest fglxr/catalyst page but to no avail.
