Question Xine problem

Hello

I am having a problem with Xine. I have installed it several times and when I open it I get an error that says: COULD NOT FIND DEMUX FOR>FILE:/USR/SHARE/XINE/SKINS/XINE-UI_LOGO.MPV. It was working fine until I updated the kernel.

Any ideas would be appreciated...

Eazyeh

I have the same problem and Xine wont play avi files anymore. I havent tested other formats yet. Hmm a pity because its my fave video player. Hopefully someone knowlegable will come up with an answer before I kick my PC. (again)

The same issue happened to my XINE install as well. I think it was the update that did it.

Do
Code:
yum install xine-lib-extras-nonfree
if you use livna. If you use other repo, find a package non-free codecs for xine-lib. Xine-lib is now in extras (due to kaffeine and 64bit) and does not therefore include non-free codecs.

EDIT: ooops I mistyped the package name. Fixed now.

I found the answer. Download and install xine-lib-extras-1.1.2-1.fc6.i386.rpm. That fixed it for me. Let me know if it works for you guys..

That's for freshrpms. For livna users it is xine-lib-extras-nonfree. This is an nice example of incompatibility of freshrpms and livna (+ extras). It is not good to mix packages from freshrpms with those from livna+extras because freshrpms have different naming conventions and same packages have sometimes different names and that lead to problems.
