New user in need of help

this has probably been posted before and sorry if so. but im straight out of windows and got interested in linux from a classmate. so through research i figured fedora core 6 would be the best for me.

ok so my question is: i get to the boot menu and hit enter to install FC6 get to the window where it says "what type of media ...to be installed" and i select local cdrom, and it cant find the cd. i run the 'linux mediacheck' cmd and it does not take me to the media check prompt

what am i doing wrong?

thx Lnoob

Hello:
Are you installing a test version of FC6?
Also, you can read through the installation guide here if you have not done so already. http://fedora.redhat.com/docs/install-guide/fc6/en/

You sure that is Fedora Core disk 1 and not the rescue disc? Can you link to the iso images you downloaded, or how the CD you got was labeled? Should be disc 1.

Usually it only asks you if you boot it linux askmethod.

Hi Lnoob,

Did you burn the ISO images on to the cds or just copy them on to them?
