Nvidia livna drivers now work with AIGLX

I've updated the nvidia drivers and Desktop effects now work out of the box. Fantastic.

By the way I can't find a full list of the controls. Anyone got any links?

2. Get Xorg.conf ready:
gconftool-2 -s '/apps/metacity/general/compositing_manager' --type bool true

Add the following in /etc/X11/xorg.conf:

Section "Extensions"
Option "Composite"
EndSection

In the "Device" section, add:
Option "AddARGBGLXVisuals" "True"

In the "Module" section, add:
Load "extmod"

3. Logout, login again and type: desktop-effects

Enable the effects.

* Switch windows = Alt + Tab
* Arrange and View All Windows = Moving the pointer to the top right screen corner turns on or off; clicking a window will zoom it to the front
* Switch desktops on cube = Ctrl + Alt + Left/Right Arrow
* Switch desktops on cube - with active window following = Ctrl + Shift + Alt + Left/Right Arrow
* Rotate cube manually = Ctrl + Alt + left-click and grab an empty desktopspace.
* Make window translucent/opaque = possible with the "transset" utility or Alt + wheel mouse
* Zoom-in once = Super-key right-click
* Zoom-in manually = Super-key + wheel mouse up
* Zoom-out manually = Super-key + wheel mouse down
* Move window = Alt + left-click
* Snap Move window (will stick to borders) = Ctrl + Shift + left-click
* Resize window = Alt + right-click
* Bring up the window below the top window = Alt + middle-click
* Slow-motion = Shift + F10
* Water = hold Ctrl+Super key
o Rain = Shift-F9

"Super-key" means the Linux respectively W** key.
If you know of others, please add them here.

* Film effect - changing dekstop = Ctrl+Alt+Down Arrow (hold the Ctrl+Alt then for changing desktop + Left/Right arrow. You can also hold down the left mousebutton to move the "film") Can be used in combination with the "Switcher".

Ok.

After my initial excitement about this, I've noticed that there's an awful lot of horizontal tearing when moving windows and things around. Video playback and digital TV are suffering from tearing as well. I've tried enabling every VSync option in the nvidia config menu but to no avail.

Has anyone nailed this issue?

Thanks for the keyboard shortcut. It looks I have better luck.

I am using the 64-bit version of the NVIDIA driver from livna on my 7900 GTX. After seeing the spinning cube so many times on magazines, finally I can experience it myself.

glxgears:
56188 frames in 5.0 seconds = 11237.536 FPS
56121 frames in 5.0 seconds = 11224.131 FPS
46803 frames in 5.0 seconds = 9360.500 FPS
46313 frames in 5.0 seconds = 9262.524 FPS
57135 frames in 5.0 seconds = 11426.877 FPS
56279 frames in 5.0 seconds = 11255.631 FPS

It works out of the box for me by pressing Ctrl + W** keys together as stated in your post.
