Splash screen (?) annoyance in FC6 won't go away....

Hello all,
I just (re)installed FC6 and I'm getting this "splash" floating screen in the middle of my screen (on all virtual desktops) that I can't seem to get rid of. It's a bit difficult to describe, so I posted what it looks like here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/jpopesku/287829669/ . The "Volume" splash box is unclickable.

I checked ps -A, but nothing listed there as to what this is. I thought it was related to KMix, so I turned that off -- no dice. It seems to override my KMix: the volume in KMix and this box say 0% and when I change the volume in KMix, the splash screen shows the change, but then reduces back to 0% automatically.

I had FC6 installed before without this problem. I haven't seen this problem before. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!
JP

My uname -rp: 2.6.18-1.2798.fc6 i686
My box: Dell Inspiron 8600, P4 1.7Ghz, 1GB RAM, nVidia

I'd post a link to that here: https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listi...dora-test-list or here: http://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/ I doubt it's a common problem but certainly the developers would be interested.

Thanks, bob...
I tried a reinstall (nothing to lose since it was a fresh install, anyway) and it went away. Must've been some odd combo of packages I had installed the other time.
