Azureus from FC 6 Extras and Sun Java.

I have not been able to get Azureus from Extras successfully running with Sun Java, I remember that the version for FC5 ran rather well with it, plus it was possible to have it run with gij. Seems that gcj, gij and ClassPath are not quite there yet for performance, though the current JVM implementation is much (and I mean much) faster than the one in previous versions. I wonder if now that Sun has announced they'll be Open Sourcing Java things will get better (apparently they'll do so under the same license as OpenSolaris, which I'm not sure how open it is or if will be possible to use it in Linux at all).

I'm using Sun JRE with the latest Azureus release from azureus.sourceforge.net on FC6 just fine... what exactly is your problem?

Yes, Azureus from the official site works just fine with Sun's JRE, but the one from Extras does not. In FC5 the one from Extras used to work just fine with Sun's JRE. I guess since the changes in ClassPath and gcj, etc; Azureus from Extras only works with cgj (or you require some magic in the launcher to make it work with Sun's JRE), I just find it neat to have Azureus in Extras.

You did install Sun's JRE the recommended jpackage way, and switched it with alternatives?
Code:
java -version
shows the Sun stuff?

Yes, in fact I installed the 32 and 64-bit runtimes (32-bit for the plugin for FF 2.0). The problem seems to be the startup script, which sets things to ClassPath. I'm not sure if the fact that I was using JRE1.5.0_09 has anything to do with it.

I use azureus from FC6 extras with the sun rpm installed and jpackage compatability rpm. No problems here.

I thought it was like a crime to use the Sun RPM I used the tarball and then used alternatives to setup the the JRE.

I always run the official Az w/ Sun Java, but I like to constantly run CVS Az (AzCVSUpdater!)

I thought running Sun's RPM was a crime too. Any time I thought about it I expected to be dragged away for "re-education" as to why their RPMs are bad.
