Some guidance

Hi
Been playing with fc5 for a couple of months now. I have 5 xp machines that I would like to network using my soon to be fc6 box as the server. I am working and playing with samba at present but my plan is for a wireless network.

1 Can you advise a good wireless card to go for (cant get on redhat for hardware list and besides if someone has a good one working well that will be good enough for me.)

2. I havent read anything about WEP and how to implement it on linux so any good links much appreciated.

1.
for a list of compatible wireless cards (with Windows drivers), see:
http://ndiswrapper.sourceforge.net/m...index.php/List

the madwifi page (open source oriented) is here:
http://madwifi.org/wiki/UserDocs/Distro/RedHat

2. As far as I know, wep is not that secure, you better go for wpa(2).

3. Cheers, Paul.

If you're really curious about wireless security, check out steve gibsons talks.

There are several really good talks about wireless security.
