32 bit compatability

I'm thinking of giving Core 6 64 bit a run. Before doing this could someone please let me know if it runs 32 bit software out of the box (it is a shame that 64 bit stll laga behind on the software front)? I have tried Ubuntu (Dapper and Edgy 64) and it really is a pain loading 32 bit apps onto those 64 bit jobbies.

Thanks
Colin

I generally haven't had problems with it. The trickiest can be if you want a 32-bit program when you have a 64-bit version of it already installed -- you either have to remove the 64-bit version or find a way to make them play nicely side by side.

Other than that, it seems to work pretty nicely....

Do you need to set up 32 bit repositories if you need a 32 bit app or do the 64 bit repos cover both?

many thanks
Colin

Everything you find in 32 bit is also in 64 bit. All libraries are availble as 32 bit and 64 bit for the 64 version. Some apps are also avaiable as 32 bit for 64 bit installation by default (without enabling extra repos).
