ibm thinkpad t23 built-in wireless config

anyone ever gotten the built-in wireless device in an ibm thinkpad t23 to work with *any* fedora release? the wireless config GUI works, detects the device, lets you specify parameters (e.g. SSID, WEP key) but it never works. i've tried both Core 1 and Core 2.

no. that page talks about configuring a pcmcia card with the t23, not its built-in wireless device.

Sorry, I think you are wrong

    It's an onboard PCI device:

i just installed the final FC2 release. the orinoco drivers still don't work for the built-in T23 wi-fi device.

and if you try to use the latest wlan-ng driver
with an out-of-the-box FC2 install ("custom" + install everything for a total of 6G), you'll discover that it doesn't work either.

it wasn't clear to me after sifting through the wlan-ng user mailing list archives whether the problem was that the FC2 kernel file tree was different from the stock 2.6 kernel file tree or whether you have to build an FC2 kernel once before attempting to build the wlan-ng driver.

when you do attempt to build the wlan-ng driver, it can't find the kernel's "version.h" (and 2-3 other files). and no, i do have the kernel source tree installed.

there is a message from one guy on the wlan user's mailing list that detailed a list of mods (copied some of the missing files, linked to others) that allowed him to build a working wlan-ng driver. but i don't want to try it. i'd rather have something that would work easily in the future.

there is a guy who built wlan-ng RPM's, but he stopped at FC1.

any suggestions? could it be possible that none of the wlan-ng developers use fedora?
