Routing all outbound traffic through encrypted proxy...yum,etc.

What is the correct way to route all outbound connections through my encrypted proxy?

I want yum and everything else to use port 8080. My service can route everything including ftp through this proxy.

I did try the 'network proxy' but programs like yum still use port 80 & 21.

Thank you for your help.

Thanks to all who viewed my post but couldn't help. I figured it out. I'm still laughing at myself. Oh how we make things so hard and obscure that are really very simple.

I just used port forwarding for every outbound connection to use the port of my encrypted proxy. Now I can blog anonymously about why only mind controlled live in my box people use the greatest piece of ***** OS forced down the throats of human beings and among other things frowned upon my my current dictatorship.

Cheerio!
