Linux Benchmarking

I can't seem to find any software that would tell me how many FLOPS my CPU does. And googling for result is even worse. Does anyone know any good benchmarking software? Because I was reading on wikipedia as to why clock speed doesn't matter for processor comparision, short of for same model chips. Which I already knew because I thought cache had a big role to play, which it does. But I'd like to see if we could post results for how many FLOPS and maybe MIPS we're getting. I'd like to compare AMD's performance to Intel chips, for rough guesses because I know ram can offset certain results. Anyways just thought I'd ask.

Keep in mind that the architecture has something to do with it, too. It's mostly x86, yes, but the size of the pipeline is very important. In Pentium D's and Pentium 4's, the pipeline was huge, like 28 stages. They shortened that down to 14 in the Core 2's. They run faster at a lower clock. Clock has something to do with it, yes, but that's like evaluating a book based on how big it looks.
