CD driver not found during install

Hi All,

I'm trying to install Fedora 5 using a DVD with the iso file burned to it.
I boot up with with the DVD and the install get past the select KEYBOARD screen to the select media with contains the install files. I select Cd-rom and it say the driver is not found. I can either pick from one the drivers listed. or Load a driver. I dont get it; how can the softaware not have the proper cd driver when its currently running the cd!

I also burned the cd isos (5 disks) and I get the same error.

I was reading the install guide and notice that the "check media" screen doesn't appear when I boot up. So I though it might be a lousy iso file that I downloaded.. so I tried it on another computer in the house and its seem to work fine, it doesn't get the Driver not found issue and I can install If I want.

Thanks,

HI kashely,

My issue was caused by my mother board (ASUS P5B-E); it uses a Jmicron SATA controller, and for FC5 this wasn't supported.. I downloaded FC6 and there is no issue; boots right up..

For FC5 to work I had to boot the cd using the following command from the boot prompt:

linux-install all-ide-generic=1

good luck

Hi pdxguy

Thank you for your help. Unfortunately this doesn't work either. Now however when I try to install i get a screen just after the boot screen with text then it hangs. The last line of text reads "ACPI: Assume root bridge [\_SB_.PCI0] bus is 0"

I have an Intel Board with a Dual Core 2 Processor, 2 x Western Digital WD2500KS HDD's and an ASUS DVD/CD burner/player.

If anyone can help I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you and kind regards in advance
