Boot countdown timer

Hi,

I'm new to Linux. I have just installed Fedora Core 5 on another drive in my PC. Disc 1 has M$ XP OS and the other with FC5.
During the boot-up Fedora screen shows with a countdown timer. And unless I press ESC button it will automatically load Fedora. When I press ESC another screen prompts asking whether to load Fedora or Other (Win XP).
This is tolally perfect as I expected. However, the countdown timer only has practically one second of waiting time. So I will have to be more than allert to catch the timer before it loads fedora. I need your assistance in modifying the timer and set it to 10 seconds instead of 1 second.

Your help will be very much appreciated.

Thank you very much and more power.

bosjef

Easily corrected: Sign into a terminal as root (su -), password and then:
Quote:
gedit /boot/grub/grub.conf
which will open a separate window that you can modify the grub menu. Change the 'timeout' from '5' to something more - I use '8' . You can also rename 'Other' to 'Windows' or 'Evil Empire' or whatever you choose. When complete, save and close the window, then type 'exit' to leave root and save your work.
