bios crash after rosegarden/jack/qsynth

FC5 running on AMD64.
Rosegarden installed running Jack adn qsynth. Which work. But one fo them crashes the BIOS.
So on mahcine reboot:
start hangs at 'ppp0 start up'
power off
clear bios to make it start - then Ok but
YUM refuses to retrieve software information
but YUM extender runs OK
GNOME YUM interface doesn't retrieve anything but doesn;t say anyhting in teh process
and rosegaden/jack/qsynth repeats teh crash

What have I done??????
