before you get any of them working you will need to first have the correct graphics drivers installed for your system (basically ATI or NVidia) drivers.

Start there...

I don't think you can legally download those games (at least quake and doom). While the quake engine has been open sourced (I believe), the game and the content have not. The instructions that I saw showed where you were required to take files (.wad files) from the CD.

Also, what instructions, specifically, did you see and try to follow?

I have already installed my ATI driver.

the instructions i followed where

tar -zxvf /home/(user)/warsow_0.2_linux.tar.gz

It unziped and all was good.
[root@localhost ~]# cd warsow
[root@localhost warsow]# ./configure
bash: ./configure: No such file or directory
[root@localhost warsow]# make
make: *** No targets specified and no makefile found. Stop.
[root@localhost warsow]# makeinstall
bash: makeinstall: command not found
[root@localhost warsow]#
any help or a way to install this file and other files would be great thanks!

Is there a README or INSTALL text file?
While most .tar.gz files may be of the ./configure - make type installers, NOT ALL of them are. A little more info might help.
